Master studies @ MCI

The reason why I started a Masters program within Entrepreneurship & Tourism with major in marketing management and tourism was that the education contained all my interests: management, communication and tourism. All areas where it is important to stay on your toes and keep up with changes of behavior, this is what makes them interesting and always expect the most out of you as a supplier.

I have worked in Sweden and Austria, within areas off communication, customer relations and tourism. I have come to learn that these topics interest me the most within work life. How to communicate for customer to believe in your product, how assure customers stay even after failure and this within such a changing and challenging area as tourism, where clients have high expectations and trends can turn in just days.
I believe that one of the biggest keys to success is combine interest, education and work life experience.
My E-Portfolio Project
Welcome to my Online Portfolio, my E-portfolio!

So the E-Portfolio contains six different subjects where for each subject there is a theoretical task and a more creative part where the knowledge from the theory should be set in a practical perspective.
E-Portfolio Feedback
I found it very motivating to be able to build a website and be able to use it like a platform to upload the tasks one after the other. The creative task felt like a nice touch which I think inspires students to think more in “realistic” ways then academic/theoretical view as I do believe that it is important to include this way of thinking into the, otherwise very, academic world. It felt like a good mixture of theoretical and practical/creative tasks.
Lessons learned
I started on the design of the website relatively directly after the task was handed out, so design and basic content was finished relatively quickly. I found working with Wix.com pretty easy and motivating, even chose to build a second website as the creative task in for Product Development) and I find wix.com very user friendly.
The theoretical part was the harder task from the two as I often need a long time to read articles as if I do speed reading very often lose track and the mind focus on something else. I chose to read the articles and take notes on a mind map while reading to make the reflection easier afterwards and to keep the mind focused. This way often takes more time but I save time as I do not need to read the article several times. As this task was the more “time consuming” did I start with this and spread it out on the semester. The task “reflect” felt a bit unclear as I was not sure if the personal point of view was expected only purely academic reflection.
The creative part was the task more suitable for me as I am more of a thinker and a writer then a reader and analyser. I had my ideas for all four tasks pretty early on and added notes to the ideas as the semester went. The only down part with having the idea early was not stressing to get them ready as I already had the idea but as soon as I started did I also have the creative parts finished quite quickly, even though longer time then appreciated was needed to finish them.
The workload and stress level for the entire task was shifting during the semester and there always came other task in between with a shorter deadline that had to prioritised and the finalisation of the E-portfolio was then pushed down on the to-do-list. The stress level did therefore go up and down as the semester pasted but the last two weeks before deadline was still intense as the was small things everywhere to finalise. The project in total did not feel overwhelming as originally thought as I relatively quickly had ideas for all creative parts and as reading it my weakness did feel good to be able to read one article at the time and spread it out on the entire semester.
